Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women is a vital part of Chapel Lane with its service to the church. The organization also provides an opportunity for the women to participate in study, mission and fellowship. It is important that all women of the church know that all Presbyterian Women events are open for everyone to participate. There is no membership required.

Presbyterian Women’s Purpose:

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves

  • To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study
  • To support the mission of the church worldwide
  • To work for justice and peace
  • To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom

Presbyterian Women Bible Study:

The Bible study offered by Presbyterian Women is an important opportunity for those women who participate. There is a Monday Evening Circle, which meets on the first Monday of the month, and an Afternoon Circle, which meets on the third Monday of the month. Depending on the month, we have from six to twelve women attending each of the two Circles. We are always open to establishing another Circle at a different time.

 Horizons Bible Study:

The 2016-2017 Horizons Bible Study, used by the two Circles, is titled Who is Jesus?

Mission Focus:

Presbyterian Women also offers the women of Chapel Lane the opportunity to serve the community by making and distributing quilts made in the Quilting Bee Circle. This has been a very worthwhile mission project.

Responsibilities of Presbyterian Women:

  • A monthly coffee hour after the Sunday morning worship service.
  • Providing meals for those who are encountering illness and during times of bereavement.
  • Sending greeting cards to show the church’s concern.
  • Organizing and maintaining the kitchen.
  • Offering a time of fellowship throughout the year with a program of interest for all women of Chapel Lane, which may include a meal.

Since we are a connectional church, we have opportunities in which to participate in the larger church: two times a year with the Presbytery of Lake Huron, one time each year with the Synod of the Covenant, and every third year when the National Triennium meets in Louisville, Ky.

Through all of the events of Presbyterian Women, there is a wonderful opportunity for women to become acquainted, study, show their love and concern, and have fellowship with one another.
